Sebastopol Secondary College Army Cadet Unit was formed in May 1997, under the Victorian Governments' Youth Development Program. In January 2011, the Units' name was changed to Sebastopol Army Cadet Unit to reflect its history, links and geographical position within the City of Ballarat and resulted from a significant change in the school's name. The Unit remains an important part of the Colleges' program and has a significant place in the Colleges' history.
The Cadets’ commitment to the Unit, College and wider community is second to none. Each year we provide ceremonial assistance at numerous days of remembrance, such as:
- ANZAC Day
- Vietnam Veterans Day
- Remembrance Day
- Battle of Britain Day
- Battle for Australia Day
- Reserve Forces Day
- Ex POW Memorial Day
Joining the Unit is voluntary and provides students at the school with an unsurpassed opportunity to lead and achieve. We offer an exciting program from recruit level to advanced level. Training each Monday night includes first aid, signals, navigation, drill and field engineering, in addition to the frequent camps and ceremonial activities.
Other camps and courses come up from time to time, such as specialist training, promotion courses, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Adventure Training Program, eagerly coveted by all Cadets.
